Gabby's Leroux, aka Gus, is a 2005 OTTB gelding. He had 17 starts on the track, and retired sound in 2009. He was restarted, and has been in work ever since. Gus started out with Western training, before moving onto Dressage. He has a very nice headset from the Dressage training, and he neck reins like a dream. Gus has the potential to do English, Western, or both.
Although he isn't finished in anything, Gus is a good prospect for a variety of disciplines. He has started doing some gaming, and has a good time doing it. He has a nice collected trot, and could also go into Western Pleasure, or English Pleasure. With his background in Dressage, he could easily do well in that, too.
On the ground, Gus works very well. He is respectful of your space and isn't pushy. He is easy to catch in the pasture, he lunges like a dream, and he stands nicely for the cross-ties. He picks up all four feet easily, and he is great for the vet and farrier.
Gus is a spirited horse. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body, and doesn't do anything dumb, but under saddle he does have a lot of spunk. He needs to learn how to collect himself at the canter. He is getting better at picking up the correct lead, but isn't perfect at it yet. He also does best with consistent work.
